BRING BACK BOTTLE DEPOSITS

In recent years large amounts of unrecyclable imported glass has entered our country. This imported glass 'contaminates' better quality glass in recycling bins.

This has forced ACI Glass Packaging, who carry out 99 per cent of the glass recycling in New Zealand, to drop the prices they pay for clear glass to $10 per tonne since the start of 2005.

Local authorities around the country who administer recycling collections are confronted with the problem of growing glass mountains that they don't know what to do with.

We're working to get District and City Council's to actively advocate for bottle deposit legislation. It's a commonsense solution to their problem.
