There's been a call for a return to bottle deposits
444 visitors to last weekend's ecofest signed a petition calling for the Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council to support the move.
Coordinator of Motueka group Community Action for People and Planet, Duncan Eddy, says with glass recycling not viable anymore the region's glass mountains are getting out of hand.
He wants the councils to push government for legislation that would allow bottles to be returned for a few cents at retail outlets so bottles can be used again and again.
