Community calls for input on board decision

Radio Nelson, October 31 2005

Tasman District Council's proposal to axe the Motueka Community Board is proving to be unpopular. Motueka community group, Community Action for People and Planet, say the Tasman District Council needs to offer the public more information before recommending sweeping changes to local body representation.

Spokesperson, Duncan Eddy, says Motueka Ward residents won't be able to make an informed decision as to whether they prefer a Community Board or a Community Association, until there is a clear understanding of the pros and cons of each system.

Duncan Eddy is calling for the Tasman District Council to provide the public with greater information on the options.
